Every time I sit down to write about my friends and collaborators, I find myself writing about parties. So, here we go again.
I played in a band with Roger Kinder when I was about 14 or 15. He was all of about 23 at the time – a proper grown up, except when the got anywhere near a stage, at which point he became a monster.
Even from the sobering distance of morning-after catch-up TV, I found Paul’s performance enthralling and enchanting.
DJs and reviewers said some very nice things about my debut album Blink, and I loved that a lot of them picked up on the lyrics….Whenever I sit back and listen to a song though, it’s the words I’m listening for.
On Christmas Eve, I was in the throws of sending a few friends & simpaticos a “singing Xmas card” – my home-recorded version of Greg Lake’s “I Believe in Father Christmas” – when this superb show came on the BBC Radio 4.
